Ongoing cooperation highlights discussions between FIFA and the African Union

The meeting with President Tshisekedi once again showed his willingness to ensure that African football develops not only across the continent, but also on the world stage.

FIFA (FIFA.com) President Gianni Infantino stressed the need to harmonize the international match calendar to help make football truly global during a meeting with Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and current president of the African Union (AU).

The two presidents, who were meeting around the 76th session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York, US, followed up on their last meeting in Kinshasa in February and took advantage of the opportunity to review the ongoing collaboration between FIFA and the AU. .

“The meeting with President Tshisekedi showed once again his commitment to ensure that African football develops not only across the continent, but also on the world stage,” the FIFA president told the outcome of the discussions which also focused on the memorandum of understanding signed by FIFA and the AU two years ago.
