Almería, Spain — As the world gears up to celebrate International Workers’ Day, the Diocese of Almería is joining the Church’s call for decent work by organizing a Eucharist on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 7:00 PM. The event will take place at the parish of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles, located at Av. de los Ángeles, 52, Almería.
This celebration, supported by various organizations including Acción Católica General, Cáritas Diocesana de Almería, CONFER, HOAC, Manos Unidas, and the Diocesan Secretariat for Labor Pastoral, aims to promote prayer and commitment towards defending the rights of all workers, under the theme “Defendemos el trabajo decente” (We defend decent work).
The event is part of a broader campaign by the Church in Spain, which highlights work as a critical aspect of human dignity and a vital element for personal development and the building of a just society. The Spanish Episcopal Conference reiterates that work should not be a privilege for a few but a guaranteed right for all individuals, as emphasized in Church’s Social Doctrine.
The Eucharist will serve as an opportunity to pray for all workers, particularly those enduring poor working conditions, unemployment, or precarious jobs. It reaffirms the Christian commitment to building a world where work is a source of dignity, justice, and hope for everyone.
