Chicago, Illinois – Wetin be dis?! Omo, a young mama and her 9-year-old pikin don suffer serious beating from group of children while dem dey waka for Far South Side Chicago on Monday afternoon. The incident happen just small distance from Orville Bright Elementary School.

Di mama wey be 33 years old, Corshawnda Hatter, and her son dey waka around 3 p.m. when suddenly, di group of children come waka towards dem. As dem approach, dem start to strike di victims multiple times. E no dey funny at all (wetin children gain from this kind wahala?)!

After di attack, both di mama and di pikin rush go hospital, where dem dey list dem as dey dey serious condition. Di whole community dey gree say dem no go take dis matter lightly as di video from di wahala go viral for social media. People no fit believe say pikin fit do dis kind thing to adult.

Corshawnda yan say di wahala dey relate to bullying wey her son dey face for di school for over two years, but dem no do anything to protect am. As she stand outside di school on Tuesday morning, tears for her eyes, she talk say, “I can’t sleep because I wake up in di middle of di night with that vision in my head of my son calling my name to help him and I couldn’t do nothing for him. That really hurt me di most.”

Di matter don provoke di likes of State Senator Willie Preston, wey also dey call for immediate meeting with di school administrators. E talk say, “No mother should be that helpless and be targeted by children inside of her own community.”

As di investigation dey go on, CPS don respond say dem dey prioritize di safety and well-being of di students, staff, and families. Dem dey work with di city agencies and partners to give support to di family wey suffer dis attack. Mayor Brandon Johnson don also express him anger, talk say di behavior no fit be accepted for Chicago. “We must not normalize dat kind of senseless violence,” he yarn.

Dem dey call for accountability, say di parents of di attacking children need to be held responsible. People don start to dey suspect say di kids don dey raise demself without proper supervision (no wonder dem dey do di kind things dem dey do).
