Oluwakemi Rufai Don Go, Ibeju-Lekki Community Dey Mourn!

Lekki, Lagos State – Dem don talk say life no be balance sheet, and na true. Just two weeks after she swear in as councillor for Ward C1, Oluwakemi Rufai don waka comot this earth. Na early morning of August 13, 2025, her journey end after she battle with brief illness. E be like say wahala no wan carry her at all (Na wah, two weeks they no even give her chance to show wetin she fit do).

Rufai, the only woman for Ibeju-Lekki Legislative Council, na woman wey carry dem hopes for grassroots development. Na Abdullahi Olowo, the Local Government Chairman, wey perform her inauguration, talk say government go support, but no let money chop your sense (Na money wahala dey spoil many plans, no be so?).

Idowo Nathaniel, wey dey head public affairs for Ibeju-Lekki LGA, confirm say Rufai die early morning on August 12. Both Rasaki Kasali, the Chairman for Lekki LCDA, come dey vex as dem talk say na big loss for the community. E no easy to lose somebody wey just start to shine her light (Na commitment be her second name, but God no gree us see am shine).

APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, body no carry ya. He talk say Oluwakemi na “rising star” wey dey represent all the values wey APC dey stand for. “She no dey joke about community development and we go always remember wetin she stand for,” he talk. Dem carry heart go visit her family and her people as dem no fit hold their tears back (E no dey easy to bear such loss, wetin we go do na just to support the family).

Everybody wey know her dey feel her absence as dem talk say her spirit go continue to dey inspire people for Ibeju-Lekki and beyond. As she don comot, make we no forget wetin her vision represent – cause na wetin we go take move forward.

APC come promise say dem go continue to uphold the values wey she represent. As everybody dey mourn, we fit just wonder, wetin go happen to this community wey lose such a bright light? Na so e be for politics and life – sometimes good things no dey last, but wetin matter na the legacy wey we go live behind.
