Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa congratulated his Kaduna state counterpart Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, who will turn 60 on February 16.

Okowa’s congratulations were conveyed in a statement by his chief press secretary, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, in Asaba on Saturday.

He praised el-Rufai for his enormous contributions and remarkable achievements in the service of his state and country.

According to Okowa, the city of Abuja and the Federal Capital Territory are what they are today thanks to the courageous actions of el-Rufai, who has stood firm to ensure the successful implementation of the master plan of Abuja.

He said that el-Rufai also made a significant contribution to the growth of the country’s economy when, as general manager of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), he ensured the unbundling of several state-owned enterprises in the coma.

He said, “el-Rufai has turned dying businesses into viable state-owned enterprises, contributing greatly to the country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

“Your impressive record in public service and your outstanding achievements in power have placed your name in the sand of time as a leader worthy of being emulated.

“The people of Kaduna State can testify to your relentlessness, commitment and determination to show state of mind, as evidenced by your civil service reforms, which include the renovation of public schools and lighting of major cities in the state.

“Indeed, you have proven beyond measure that you are a worthy political leader and an emerging nationalist,” he said.

“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Delta, I congratulate a politician, an outstanding public servant, a leader of this generation, a courageous Democrat and my brother Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, as he ‘he times three twenties on February 16.

He recalled that el-Rufai, a first-class quantity inspector and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was first elected governor of Kaduna state in 2015 and re-elected in 2019.
