Obasa Pikin Don Take Over Agege LG Chair, Wetin Dey Happen?

Agege, Lagos State – E be like say dem don settle matter for Agege Local Government as Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of the well-known Mudashiru Obasa, don assume chairmanship for di council. This one no be joke o! Abdul-Ganiyu take over after di former chairman, Tunde Azeez, popularly known as Disco, resign due to health wahala after just one month as big man on top chair.

Na Wednesday, during plenary wey dem gather for Agege council chamber, di lawmakers put hand together for Abdul-Ganiyu, confirm am as di substantive chairman. Dis one no be surprise, as e don dey act as chairman since Azeez go on medical leave. People dey talk say dis confirmation na to avoid any kind of leadership wahala and keep things flowing for di council.

Before dis wahala start, Azeez don serve dem for a short time after being sworn in on July 26, 2025, but dem say health challenges no allow am perform well. Lawmakers use di opportunity to commend am for di small time wey he spend for office and wish am quick recovery. (Na wetin everybody suppose do, abi no be so?)

But e no end for there. Abdul-Ganiyu, before dis whole drama unfold, dey eye di council chairmanship ahead of di upcoming LG elections, but some people come block im way. Dem even say him own candidacy no dey too popular among di grassroots. Now, because of dis position, as dem don confirm am, e fit still carry di grassroots mobilization matter wey hin don dey handle since Tunde Azeez leave.

Dem legislators praise Azeez for di small service wey he perform before him health fail am, but e don clear say dem gree for Abdul-Ganiyu because dem no wan make any form of administrative breakdown happen. Dem sabi say transparency and accountability na key, if dem wan make sure say di work dey well for di community.
