NUPENG Don Threaten Strike Over Dangote Anti-Union Matter

City, Nigeria — Tension don rise for Nigeria as NUPENG, the big boys wey dey represent petroleum workers, don announce say dem go begin nationwide strike on Monday, September 8. Dem dey vex say Dangote Refinery no wan allow drivers of new trucks join any union. This matter dey hot like jollof wey just come down from stove!

NUPENG, wey dey led by Williams Akporeha and Afolabi Olawale, don talk say this action no just dey threat their livelihood but e dey fight the constitutional right wey workers get to join union, as per the 1999 Constitution. E be like say Dangote no dey gree hear word as dem dey carry 4,000 new gas trucks come enter the market. Wetin be all this wahala? Na logistics wey delay their launch wey follow am.

Dem don try talk with Dangote several times, but e be like say person no dey listen. As if that one no bad enough, MRS Oil, wey get connections to Dangote family, don start to recruit drivers wey no go fit join any oil and gas union. This one na serious matter because drivers dey fear for their jobs!

Gillis-Harry, wey be PETROAN President, talk say this strike dey loom like bad news wey fit affect everybody. Him don call on President Bola Tinubu and regulatory bodies to intervene before dem go set everything ablaze. E really dey bad when one company dey try control everything—na wetin dem mean by monopoly!

Abubakar Maigandi, president of IPMAN, don also dey call for peace talks. E get as e be, we dey follow the matter closely as we no fit talk say wetin go happen if the tanker drivers carry out the strike. Both NLC and NUPENG dey prepare to mobilize if Dangote no buckle up.

NLC President, Joe Ajaero, don come drop serious matter say the practices of Dangote Group dey chook everywhere and na serious exploitation. If we talk say dem dey employ foreigners wey fit do the job Nigerians dey qualified for, na wetin we dey call wahala for our own.

For South-West, IPMAN dey ready for the strike, no be small as dem reason say this matter fit affect over 4,000 trucks wey dey run on top diesel. The law don state say refinery no suppose dey do distribution directly but Dangote dey do am like say na him dey write the rules.

But as usual, the Direct Trucking Company Drivers Association dey stand gree for their own side say dem no go join the strike. Dem say each driver get right to choose wetin be their best interest.
