NPFL: Wikki Tourists overpower FC IfeanyiUbah 4-3

By Ahmed Kaigama

Wikki Tourists Football Club defeated Nnewi’s FC IfeanyiUbah 4-3 at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi on Sunday in the current Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) reports that Sunday’s game dropped Wikki Tourists from 16th position after 27 games with 30 points.

Wikki Tourists scored 40 minutes into the game thanks to Nazifi Yahaya, who went on to score the second goal two minutes after the start of the second half.

Manu Garba extended the scoring in the second half, while Yahaya completed his hat-trick to bring the score to 4-0 in the 58th minute of the game.

But the visitors recovered and after 74 minutes of the game Ekenne Awazi reduced the score by scoring in the 88th minute.

There was then a frenzied end to the game as Eze Diego scored his third goal in the 90th minute.

FC IfeanyiUbah head coach Uche Okagbue in a post-match interview said his boys looked impressive during the match.

“We fought to get at least one draw in the game, but it wasn’t.

“We didn’t play badly but it wasn’t our day. If we had converted our odds, the outcome would have been different.

“So we’re not going to cry over the defeat. The players have been through a lot of stress already, as we traveled all night without resting. But they did well, ”he said.

The coach said he still has faith in the players and is sure they will do better in their next game.

For his part, Wikki Tourists’ interim head coach Abdullahi Bura did not appear happy with the score.

“I’m not in the mood to talk to reporters,” he said. (NOPE)
