NNPC, GACN, Nasarawa Govt. sign gas supply MoU

Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria (GACN) and the Nasarawa state government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the supply of gas to industries and investors in the state of Nasarawa.

The MoU for gas supply was signed Thursday in Lafia at the Nasarawa Business Roundtable meeting organized to explore investment opportunities in the gas sector.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding was witnessed by the state governor, Abdullahi Sule; NNPC Group Chief Executive Officer Malam Mele Kyari, Gas & Power Group Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Ltd Malam Mohammed Abdulkabir Ahmed, Axxela Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Bolaji Osunsanya, among others.

NNPC Group Managing Director Kyari provided concrete pictorial evidence of the progress made regarding the AKK pipeline project and emphasized that the state of Nasarawa is uniquely positioned to maximize the value of the AKK pipeline as well as business opportunities based on gas.

Kyari highlighted and appreciated the unwavering commitment of the President to use gas as an important tool to boost economic development.

The Business Roundtable thanked the GMD and the current NNPC management for injecting accountability, transparency and openness into the operating methods of NNPC Ltd.

Speaking at the event, GACN Managing Director Mr. Olalekan Ogunleye said that the collaboration between the Nasarawa State Government, NNPC Ltd. and GACN has established a clear framework through which investors and projects in the state would access. to gas immediately.

He said this would be through Virtual Pipeline Solutions (CNG and LNG) prior to the completion of the AKK gas pipeline project.

“This is an important step in the federal government’s Gas Utilization Expansion campaign that is being aggressively facilitated by GACN.

“This Memorandum of Understanding establishes clear deliverables that have a time limit based on insuring gas in the short, medium and long term in competitive terms.

“As you can recall, similar memorandums of understanding were signed a few months ago with the states of Kano and Kaduna, and those commitments have now advanced to the negotiation stage of the Gas Supply Agreement.

“Obviously, NNPC Management continues to promote the commercialization of gas resources as a national economic development issue, while GACN and other NNPC subsidiaries such as NGMC, NGC have well-defined roles and responsibilities to generate concrete progress and value,” explained the CEO of GACN.

Also speaking, Sule appealed to the indigenous people of the state of Nasarawa to take advantage of opportunities in the gas value chain, such as gas distribution, CNG stations, captive / embedded power generation, LPG commercialization, the commercialization of gas torches, among others .
