Nigerians Have Every Reason to Celebrate Buhari’s Administration – Garba Shehu

Claims of Buhari’s Administration Success

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media, Garba Shehu, has claimed that Nigerians have every reason to celebrate the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, insisting it has done reasonably well.

He insisted that the global crisis of cost of living is not confined alone to Nigeria, adding that other economies are also suffering the effects.

”Let me say to you that as a government, we believe we have done reasonably well. We have delivered on all of the major promises that this administration had made prior to coming to office. And these things are key issues of security. We know what this country was like when we came in. This country was split into two; we had a caliphate carved out of this country by Boko haram with a flag of their own, a system of administration, with their own system of taxation and all of that; 17 of 27 Local Councils in Borno State were in that republic. All of that has changed, so don’t say we have not achieved anything.

Buhari’s Government Efforts to Mitigate Global Crisis

He also said Buhari’s government had done so much to take Nigerians away from the excessive heat that has accompanied Covid and the Ukraine–Russia war.

”And when you mentioned all of these things about inflation, look, please understand that there is a global crisis going on, a global crisis of cost of living that is simply not confined alone to Nigeria. Everyone is involved, whether it is arising from things that emanated from the Covid crisis. We know what it has done; the entire economies of the world, everyone, perhaps China, had gone into negative numbers in terms of development.

And then one of the things about the Ukraine and Russia war, with all of its implications for us here, whether it is fertilizer and agriculture or fuel that we import from part of the world, is happening to everyone. And I tell you this country, when you compare this with what is happening in West Africa, in the entire continent, I think Nigerians have every reason to celebrate this administration. We have not done as badly as everyone has done; in fact, this government has done so much in order to take Nigerians away and remove us from the excessive heat that has accompanied these crises, Covid in particular and Ukraine – Russia war,” he said.

Other Economies are Also Struggling, Not Just Nigeria
