Nigerian troops thwarted an attack and killed five terrorists in Kwanan Bataro, Giwa local government area of Kaduna state, said a statement from the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan.
“According to operational information, the troops conducting cleanup patrols at Giwa LGA received credible intelligence from the terrorists’ movement towards the city of Fatika,” Aruwan said.
“The troops then mobilized towards Marke and Ruheya in response.
“The outlaws were spotted and tried to escape the advancing forces. However, the troops cut off their escape route at Kwanan Bataro and engaged them in a firefight, during which five of the terrorists were neutralized. The troops returned to the base after clearing the area ”.
Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i expressed his satisfaction with the operational feedback and praised the troops for their proactive and sharp response to the intelligence received.
He encouraged them to maintain the intensity of the ongoing offensives against terrorists in the area.
The security forces maintain surveillance and patrols in the general area.
