Nigerian Air Force’s Super Tucano jet destroy ISWAP armoury, training bases in Lake Chad

The recently acquired Super Tucano aircraft from the Nigerian army has destroyed the arsenal and training bases of ISWAP terrorists in the Lake Chad basin region.

It was learned that some terrorists at the scene were also killed during multiple bombings carried out by the Operation Hadin Kai Air Task Force in the Kayowa, Tumbum Jaki and Tumbun Akawu areas of the region.

PRNigeria learned that a coordinated air and ground operation led by Intelligence on Tuesday identified the “acclaimed” ISWAP headquarters, which houses hundreds of the sect’s commanders, fighters and their arsenal.

A military source told PRNigeria that he said the attacks were carried out after a surveillance and reconnaissance mission had indicated a gathering of terrorists working with tools in Lake Chad communities.

“The locations had previously been reported by intelligence sources as sites where improvised explosive device factories are located, as it was suspected that welding activities were taking place hidden under dense vegetation.

“During the attack, explosions were observed confirming that there were bomb-making materials at the site.

“An early damage assessment confirmed the elimination of several high-ranking insurgent commanders and their infantrymen, in the operation,” the source added.
