Nigeria, Turkey explore bilateral Trade, Business opportunities at Forum

By Ismail Abdulaziz Nigeria‘s Ambassador to Turkey Ismail Abba has assured potential investors from Turkey and Indonesia a high return on investment (ROI) when they come to invest in critical sectors of the country’s economy.

This is contained in a statement by Governor Abubakar Bello from Niger’s chief press secretary, Mary Noel-Berje, at the Turkish-Nigerian Business Congress (TNBC) in Istanbul, Turkey on Sunday.

The ambassador described the Nigerian business environment as hospitable, stressing that there are many immeasurable opportunities to explore in the country.

Abba, who provided an overview of the investment climate in Nigeria, said the country represents a major economic engine for West Africa and one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

Addressing the assembly, Nigerian Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika said the federal government’s efforts to overhaul, transform and commercialize the aviation sector is one of the fastest growing sectors of the national economy.

He said that with huge investment and a robust turnaround in aviation, railways and other transportation systems, Nigeria would generate a massive traffic hub and become a platform for expanding business opportunities. investment across Africa.

Also speaking, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Malam Isah Pantami, represented by Ahmed Maska, an official of the ministry, highlighted the efforts made by Nigeria to strengthen its communication and digital economy.

Pantami said the country remains important in terms of investment opportunities due to its population and size.

He said the Forum provided a good opportunity for investors in communication and digital economy and other critical sectors.

The minister added that investing in smart technologies such as surveillance and rapid response technologies would reduce insecurity in the country.

In his speech, Bello, who is also the chair of the North Central States Governors Forum (NCSGF), called the Nigeria-Turkey bilateral relationship as mutually beneficial.

Bello, who identified technology transfer as fundamentally necessary for Nigeria’s growth and development, stressed the need for cooperation with the Turkish government in this direction.

Bello said investment opportunities abound in Nigeria, but the courage to make a positive economic decision, to open up and the willingness to invest in various aspects of comparative advantage by investors was lacking in some cases. .

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed also gave an overview of possible investment opportunities in the state as well as the incentives provided by the state government for potential investors.

The Governor of Jigawa State, represented by Deputy Governor Malam Umar Namadi, highlighted the potentials available in Jigawa, explaining that collaboration with Turkey would lead to rapid development and increase in economic activities.

Earlier, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce President Eddy Ganefo highlighted his country’s trade and economic relations with Turkey and expressed hope that such strategic cooperation will continue to strengthen.

In his welcome speech, the representative of the organizers of the Economic and Business Forum, Dr Mohammed Obied, said that Turkey, with its geostrategic location, is capable of playing a major role in establishing trade relations between men of affairs of Nigeria, Turkey and Indonesia.

He noted that tripartite business and investment cooperation between the three countries was potentially important given their size and with a combined population estimated at over 500 million.

Obied instructed the assembly not only to identify business and investment opportunities, but also to focus on the mechanism to make them work by making and executing all deals made.

The Turkish-Nigerian and Indonesian Forum is organized to raise awareness of investment and business opportunities for all countries.

It is also about improving the interaction between their business communities and attracting the attention of the private sector in all countries to areas of mutually beneficial investment opportunities.
