Marcus Gayle, di former Wimbledon, Watford and Brentford striker, wey don dey represent Jamaica, dey super excited about di final. He sabi say e no be only about di match, but about bringing people together. “Di last time wey dis happen na 21 years ago, so many fans no even born then! Dis na chance for dem to see wetin their nations fit produce,” he talk with smile.

Gayle wey born for Hammersmith, come from Barbadian mother and Jamaican papa, sabi wetin e dey talk. He play for England youth team but later choose to join di senior team of Jamaica. “I go through some politics at di time,” he explain, as he give us small background story wey fit make dem consider sentiments of dual nationality.

As e talk about di competition, e throw shade in matter of prestige. “E get wetin dey make England look better for di body in terms of chances at major tournaments compared to Jamaica,” Gayle yarn, no careless about who dey e side. “But face am! We gats carry pride for who we be and our identity.”

For di pitch, Gayle don experience am all.
