The city of Toronto is buzzing with excitement as the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend kicks off. Fans and players alike are eagerly anticipating the events scheduled to take place at Scotiabank Arena.

The action begins on All-Star Thursday, which features the highly anticipated Tim Hortons NHL All-Star Player Draft, as well as the NHL Alumni Man of the Year ceremony and a tribute to the 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs. The Canadian Tire Professional Women's Hockey League will also showcase their talent in a thrilling 3-on-3 game.

But the excitement isn’t limited to the ice. The city of Toronto is abuzz with various events and festivities to celebrate the NHL All-Star Weekend. From fan festivities to community events, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

One event that holds special significance is the dedication of a nursing station at SickKids hospital to the late Walter Gretzky. The Bitoves family, who recently donated $1 million to the SickKids VS Limits campaign, will honor Walter’s legacy by naming the station after him. Walter Gretzky, famously known as ‘Canada’s Hockey Dad,’ was a beloved figure in the hockey community and often visited sick children at the hospital.

Another initiative making waves is the Hockey 4 Youth program, which aims to grow the game of hockey in non-traditional markets. Founded by Moezine Hasham, the program provides opportunities for young newcomers to Canada to play and learn the sport. Participants receive ice time, equipment, and valuable life skills training through the program.

In a fun-filled event, six NHL mascots recently took a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway ride with fans, spreading the excitement for the upcoming NHL All-Star Weekend. Carlton the Bear, the hometown mascot, served as the tour guide, adding to the anticipation building in the city.

The 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend promises to be a memorable event for both players and fans. With a slew of events and initiatives happening around Toronto, there’s no shortage of excitement and enthusiasm for the sport of hockey.
