 The Abiodun Essiet Initiative for Girls AEIG an NGO says it will continue to collaborate with the Kurudu Community in the FCT to tackle the menace of Sexual and Gender Based Violence SGBV Mrs Abiodun Essiet the Executive Director of the organisation said this on Tuesday during an interactive meeting with stakeholders security personnel paramilitary and traditional rulers in the community She said that the meeting which focused on community scorecard and community response to sexual and gender based revealed areas where the community needed improvement and help This is a community scorecard on community response to sexual and gender based violence and we are really happy with the response of the community to these issues We are taking traditional rulers as service providers and we are assessing their response and how they handle cases of SGBV And so the youths and women were divided into three groups to score how their response is and also to score the service they received from them Our project is focused on strengthening the FCT traditional justice system on how to handle SGBV So with this programme we have agreed as members and leaders of the community on actions to take We will be doing this with NAPTIP Police NSCDC Human Rights representatives all towards supporting the community in addressing issues e SGBV she said Chief Ezra Gonma District Head of Kurudu Community appreciated the NGO for the initiative He saif that the knowledge gained from the meeting would be shared amongst other traditional rulers within the community to effectively mitigate the menace NewsSourceCredit NAN
