Newly-elected Mongolian president takes oath June 25

Newly-elected Mongolian President Ukhnaa Khurelsukh will be sworn in on June 25, the country’s parliament said on Friday.

Khurelsukh is the chairman of the ruling Mongolian People’s Party and a former prime minister.

He won a landslide victory in the ordinary presidential election held on Wednesday, garnering 67.76% of the vote according to the country’s General Election Commission.

According to the country’s new constitution, he is expected to serve a single six-year term. (Xinhua / NAN)
