Nepal reported the second COVID-19 death on Sunday after the first one was recorded a day earlier.

The government confirmed the death of a 25-year-old man from Narainapur-5 of Banke district due to COVID-19. The man had been in quarantine after returning to Nepal from India on May 12.

“The deceased had developed fever and suffered from diarrhea last night,” said Bikash Devkota, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the daily press briefing, adding “his swab report came out positive.”

The MoHP on Saturday evening confirmed the COVID-19-related death of a 29-year-old woman from Sindhupalchowk district.

“The government in coordination with Epidemiology and Disease Control Division has started contact tracing of the people that had come in contact with the post natal woman who died due to COVID-19 on May 14,” Devkota said.

Ten new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Sunday, bringing the total to 291 in the Himalayan country. A total of 36 people have recovered and have returned home after medical treatment.
