Nepal marks 4th anniversary of earthquake that killed 9,000
Over 762,307 houses were damaged in the magnitude-7.8 earthquake that struck central Nepal.
The powerful quake also wounded more than 22,000 people.
More than 50 per cent of the houses have been rebuilt so far, according to the National Reconstruction Authority.
Out of a total of 7,553 school buildings, around 4,000 have been reconstructed so far, according to the agency.
On Thursday, Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed a memorial service at Kathmandu Durbar Square, which was in ruins following the earthquake in 2015.
“We will make sure that these temples and monuments retain their traditional design and structure,” he said.
The earthquake affected the country’s 14 districts including the capital Kathmandu.https://nnn.ng/nepal-marks-4th-anniversary-of-earthquake-that-killed-9000/
