NECO gets new registrar

President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Wushishi as Registrar and Director General of the National Board of Exams (NECO).

Wushishi replaces Professor Godswill Obioma who died on June 1, 2021.

A statement from NECO spokesperson Mr. Azeez Sani said that Wushishi’s appointment was included in a letter signed by Education Minister Adamu Adamu, dated July 16, 2021.

He said the appointment was for an initial five-year term starting July 12.

Wushishi, a 56-year-old science education professor from Niger, was a lecturer at Uthman Danfodio University in Sokoto before transferring his service to the Federal University of Technology (FUT) in Minna.

He has held several positions in the education sector, including that of Postgraduate Coordinator, Department of Science Education, Federal University of Technology, Minna.

Wushishi was also Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science and Head of the Department of Science Education, FUT Minna.

He was also head of the science education department at IBB Lapai University during his sabbatical.

The Nigerian News Agency (NAN) reports that Mr. Ebikibina Ogborodi, Director of Special Functions, acted as the Registrar of the Review Body after Obioma’s disappearance. (NAN)
