NDLEA intercepts 35 packages of cocaine and drugs en route Italy, Turkey

The National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said it recovered 35 envelopes of cocaine from a female passenger at Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.

NDLEA Media and Advocacy Director Femi Babafemi revealed this in a statement made available to the Nigeria News Agency (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday.

Babafemi said the suspect, Okafor Ebere Edith, was arrested on July 31, while clearing Air Cotevoire passengers bound for Monrovia, Liberia.

He said the suspect, who hid a cocaine lozenge in her underwear to go through security checks at the airport, was however arrested to be searched.

This, he said, included an interrogation in which the envelopes of illicit drugs were found on her.

“During the preliminary interview, the suspect claimed that the desire to earn money had pushed her into drug trafficking,” he said.

Babafemi said officers arrested another suspect, Echendu Jerry Maduakolam, a prospective male passenger traveling to Istanbul, in the departure hall of MMIA Gate A on July 27.

He said the suspect was arrested during Egypt Airline’s customs clearance to Turkey in possession of 78 grams of cannabis mixed with dried bitter leaves.

“On the same day, another male passenger, Egbon Osarodion on his way to Milan, Italy, was arrested in the departure hall at Gate A of the airport.

“It was also during the customs clearance of Egypt Airlines passengers with different amounts of 225 mg of tramadol and rohypnol concealed in foil wrapped in a poly bag,” he said.

Babafemi further revealed that NDLEA agents from the Kontagora region command in Niger state raided a warehouse in Mailefe village in the Kontagora local government area in the region of Kontagora. ‘State.

The spokesperson said the operation was carried out on July 29 at a warehouse where suspicious drug supplies were stored for bandits operating in parts of the state.

“After a thorough search of the warehouse, 125 bags of Cannabis Sativa were recovered as a man seen praying outside the house fled into the forest when he saw the narcotics officers from afar.” , did he declare.

Marwa praised their continued efforts to track down illicit drug traffickers in their areas of responsibility.

He instructed them, and their counterparts in other commands, to remain focused and determined in pursuing the goal of ridding Nigeria of illicit substances and drug-related offenses. (NAN)
