Abuja, Nigeria – E be like say Ndi Asuu Bia Social Cultural Organisation no wan carry last as dem don dey push make Senate allow Anioma State to enter our Naija map. This matter no be small wahala, as dem dey follow Senator Ned Nwoko, wey dey represent Delta North, wey don already gather over 80 other senators to support this cause. Na real teamwork! (Imagine all of dem for one room, na who go fit carry the most fingers?)
Dem write letter to the Senate Committee wey dey check the 1999 Constitution. For the letter, dem talk say make dem create dis Anioma State, because na long time wey Ndigbo dey shout for am. Dem dey complain say na imbalance wey dey affect dem for the existing states and na him dis new one go fix plus bring government closer to dem. (Na dem dey talk say make we no feel like say we dey outside dem big gists wey dey happen for Delta State!)
In the memo wey dem sign, we fit see big men like Chief Onyenwemadu Kingsley Kainebi (him be President), Ofochi Benjamin-Atagana (the Secretary) and Chief Cosmas Agada Chikeobi (the man wey dey run Local Organising Committee). Dem all provide brain for the memo, wey dem say the constitution need to change small-small to make space for Anioma State. Dem even talk say dem need to add this state to the 37 others wey dey ground for Nigeria. No be small matter o!
Dem argue say this Anioma State go help balance the state equation because presently, Southeast get only five states, while other geopolitical zones dey enjoy six or more. (Chai! As e be, na like say dem dey play hide and seek with our states!) This new addition go fit correct the imbalance and bring justice. E go make people feel say wetin dem dey ask for get value. People no go dey shout from far again; dem fit just waka go their local government! (Na so progress be!)
Dem also talk say the name “Anioma” na collection from different Igbo group names wey dey exist for that side. The agitations don dey since time wey dem dey call First Republic. (E mean say dem no be new kids for the block, dem don do plenty gists since!) So, why Senate no go just make the move? Na only to sign am, we go chop and celebrate.
As this matter dey unfold, we dey watch as our senators dey sit down for dat big chamber wey dey decide our fate. Make dem no forget say dem role na to serve we people. If dem fit grant this Anioma State, na enjoyment we go dey! (Imagine how many people go join our traditional parties and festivals with more states!) Na wetin we dey hope for with fingers crossed, as dem sabi put am. After all, we need to upgrade our Nigeria, and dis na one of the steps. Let’s see how e go take be!
