NCAC holds arts, crafts expo to network Nigerian cultural strength – DG

By Deji Abdulwahab

The National Arts and Culture Council (NCAC) said it is organizing the International Arts and Crafts Exhibition (INAC), to showcase Nigeria‘s cultural strength to the world.

NCAC Director General (CEO) Otunba Olusegun Runsewe said this on Wednesday evening at the 14th International Arts and Crafts Exhibition (INAC) in Abuja.

Runsewe said that INAC is one of the platforms used to engage and network creators of arts and crafts around the world.

He said: ‘We have to do it now, especially as COVID-19 has kept us at home, Nigeria should take the lead in Africa to show that we have tried to get out of it so that life can come. .

“It has affected all the savings and it is not in our best interests.”

He blamed the current security challenges on the COVID-19 pandemic, which he said has affected people’s businesses and the country’s economy, resulting in crime and others.

“COVID-19 is the cause of some criminal activity like kidnappings and banditry because people are not engaged.

“It’s one of the platforms we engage people on. Here we have 10 states that have come to show the strength of their states to the world through the NCAC.

“So to me, this is a red flag that we are coming out of the huge COVID-19,” Runsewe said.

According to him, INAC has contributed immensely to the growth and development of Nigeria, as the ordinary craftsman who produces a new item now has the opportunity to touch a new thing in life.

“For us as an organization we are happy that our platform is being used to network Nigeria’s strength to the world.

“Before, people did not understand the meaning of culture, it is an intangible contribution to human effort.

“So what I tried to do is take the culture to the next level and tell Nigerians that this is our heritage.

“It’s to change the perception that others have of us. We need to tell our story, and one of the platforms to tell our story is INAC, ”said the Executive Director.
