  President of the National Council of Provinces Mr Seiso Mohai leads a South African parliamentary delegation to the 51st session of the Southern African Development Community SADC PF Parliamentary Forum Plenary Assembly to be held from today 11 to Thursday July 14 2022 The delegation includes Mr Desmond Lawrence Moela and Ms Nkhensani Kate Bilankulu from the African National Congress Mr Darren Bergman of the Democratic Alliance and Ms Ntombovuyo Mente of the Economic Freedom Fighters The Plenary Session is organized in collaboration with the Parliament of Malawi as it is their turn to host in accordance with the constitution of the forum Each of the 15 member parliaments has a turn to host on a rotating basis South Africa is next in line to host the session The theme of the session is Towards energy efficiency sustainability and self sufficiency in the SADC region The SADC PF is proud to be the standard bearer for democratization and socio economic development through the harmonization and synchronization of laws and policies in the region It is the first inter parliamentary association with a body dedicated to monitoring the incorporation of international laws and treaties in the form of the Regional Parliamentary Model Laws Oversight Committee Items scheduled for the four days of the 51st Plenary Assembly include an opening ceremony by the President of Malawi Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera the consideration and adoption of the SADC Model Bill on Public Financial Management as well as as a review of the Executive Committee Member reports and motions Other plenary objectives and expected results include the promotion of solidarity and interparliamentary cohesion among member parliaments
