Speaking at a networking session involving host communities from the Ankpa Local Government Area of ​​Kogi State, House of Representatives Federal Road Safety Commission Committee Chairman Rep. Akinfolarin Samuel said the Group Dangote is a big player and a significant contributor to the development of the Nigerian economy.

Community Development Agreement

While affirming the company’s job creation progress, the legislator said that it was necessary for the company and the host community to always walk the same path through the implementation of the Community Development Agreement (CDA) by mutual agreement.

Speaking, a representative of the FRSC, Deputy Corps Marshal Kayode Fanola, praised the Dangote Group for introducing measures that have helped reduce the accident rate in the country.

“I can tell you that we have inspected the Dangote Drivers School facilities in Obajana and they met our standard,” said Fanola.

Speaking, a Dangote Transport representative, Mr. Charles Theophilus, said FRSC officials were involved in training Dangote drivers.

Earlier this year, Dangote Cement Plc established a well-equipped driver’s school in Obajana, Kogi state.

Host community representative and youth leader, Mr. Samuel Ibrahim, told lawmakers in the session that the company was implementing the CDA signed in July 2019.

The Youth leader said that solar energy wells, the construction of bridges and roads, and the construction of classroom blocks and a Clinic were some of the projects implemented in the Awo Akpali community.

The leader of the Dangote delegation at the Interactive Session, Alhaji Taslim Jimoh, told lawmakers that the Dangote Group is a law-abiding company.

He added that compensation and other necessary requirements for the exploitation of coal have been paid.

Head of Health

Speaking in the interactive session, the company’s Head of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Ms. Ebere Okonkwo, said that Dangote Cement Plc was reviewing its driver recruitment and certification process in collaboration with the FRSC.
