The Nasarawa state chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has approved the appointment of Malam Jaafar Loko as state chairperson of the council.
This is contained in a statement issued at the end of the Nasarawa NYCN Extraordinary Meeting, signed by Alaku, Secretary of State and Malam Liman Akaro, Vice President, on Thursday at the Keffi local government area in the state.
The statement explained that the meeting deliberated extensively on issues bordering on Executive Council leadership and all NYCN business in the state.
“Officials from across the state attended and held dispassionate discussions on issues related to the council's alleged dereliction of duty, mismanagement of resources, and lack of accountability that violates the council's constitutional provision.
Therefore, a vote of no confidence was passed against Mr. Idris Ojoko, who was the State President of the Council. As a consequence, Jaafar Loko unanimously emerged as the new state chairman of the council.
”The council also relieved Muhammad Atose, who until now was the vice-chairman of the council due to his busy schedule in his new assignment.

”The council also relieved Muhammad Atose, who until now was the vice-chairman of the council due to his busy schedule in his new assignment.

“And Mr. Louis Azige emerged by consensus as the new Vice President of Nasarawa NYCN.”

However, the council assured the state’s youth that it is ready to reposition youth activities and create an enabling environment for all young people to pursue their aspirations and promote their well-being.

In response, Loko pledged to provide a level playing field for all youth to realize their potential and support the policies and programs of the Nasarawa state government.
