Nasarawa Govt tasks parents on children’s education

The Nasarawa State Government on Thursday urged parents to give adequate priority to the education of their children in the interest of development.

Alhaji Yusuf Aliyu-Turaki, the State’s Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, made the call while playing host to Kanje Community from Awe Local Government Area of the state.

Aliyu-Turaki said that no society would achieve meaningful development without sound education.

He said that the importance of education to societal development could not be over-emphasised, hence the need for the call.

He also urged communities across the state to embrace peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations for development to thrive.

” I want to commend you for the visit and to assure you of the state government’s continued commitment to bring development to your door steps and other communities across the state.

” And we can only achieve development if we live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of our differences.

” It is in view of this that I want to call on you and other communities in the state to live in peace, be your brother’s keepers for development to thrive, ” the commissioner said.

He also urged the people of the state to support Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administration to enable him to succeed in the task ahead of him.

” By supporting the government, we will enjoy more dividends of democracy, ” he said.

He urged Kanje community and other Nigerians to continue to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities for the overall development of their communities and the country.

Earlier, The leader of Kanje Community, Mr Sale Abubakar Kanje, said that they were in the commissioner’s office to felicitate with him on his appointment as member of the State Executive Council.

Kanje also reaffirmed the support of the community to the state government’s policies and programmes.
