The fourth edition of the Namibia International Energy Conference will take place April 20-22, 2022 in Windhoek, Namibia, hosted by Rich Africa Consultancy (RichAfricaCo.com). It will be the official meeting place for the energy industry. The two-day flagship event will be held under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Mines and Energy led by H.E. Minister Tom Alweendo.

Under the theme “The Energy Mix: Positioning for Investment, Industrialization and Growth,” this thought leadership event will bring together energy stakeholders with international investors and partners to drive industry growth and development as well. as well as to promote Namibia and Africa as destinations for energy investments. . Participating companies, international investors, service companies and various international delegations will share updates on exploration activities, green hydrogen and regional gas and other ongoing projects and announce future projects while highlighting upcoming business and investment opportunities.

The conference will bring together various perspectives from across the energy value chain to serve as a catalyst for crucial conversations that will shape the future of energy in Namibia and the rest of the continent.

The conference will take a closer look at the global and continental energy prospects and their impact, the latest developments in the oil and gas industry, the state of the power and electricity market, the role of natural gas and the future of renewable energy. It will also feature relevant topics such as energy sector financing, infrastructure development, ESG issues and the African Continental Free Trade Area.

Namibia continues to see a lot of exploration activity with proven reserves, estimated at 11 billion barrels of oil and 2.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. The country has been a great attraction for regional and international oil companies. Industry players include Tullow Oil pc, which is exploring Namibia’s marine basins; ExxonMobil, which is currently exploring the Namibe border basin in partnership with the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR); Qatar Petroleum and Shell, which have exploration campaigns in Block 2913A and 2914B; Africa Oil Corp and TotalEnergies, which currently operate the Venus exploration well; and Reconnaissance Energy Africa. Namibia continues to show leadership in developing a massive green hydrogen project that could produce 300,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year for regional and global markets.
