Chai! Na wa o! Naira don do am again! This week, naira finally break record as e don rise to N1,448.20 per dollar for the official foreign exchange market. Dis one na di highest level since dem start to dey use di Electronic Foreign Exchange Matching System (EFEMS). E mean say naira don gain 14.70 percent, which be N211.92, when you check back to December 2024 wey e dey struggle at N1,661.12. No be small mata!

On Tuesday, as di trading end, naira don flex muscles again. E gain 0.3 percent as di dollar dey quoted N1,448.20, after e come down from N1,452.79 on Monday. Meanwhile, for di black market (we sabi say dem dey call am parallel market), naira stand still at N1,485 per dollar. Na serious wahala for people wey dey buy dollar!

Bala Moh’d Bello, wey dey inside di Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), talk say na di tight liquidity management and di government reforms wey dey give naira dis boost. E talk say investor confidence don dey grow, na im make speculative activities for di FX market don drop. E look am as good news, abi wetin you think? (Naija pipo for you!)

Foreign exchange inflows don also increase, wey rise from $1.10 billion to $1.37 billion last week. Na foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) dey carry dis money enter, contribute about 33.52 percent. Na dem sabi how to dey chop better money, sha! Investors from all quarters dey put their eye for Nigeria as di currency dey get stronger.

As di reserves dey update, Nigeria gross external reserves don see small increase of 0.40 percent, na im make am reach $42.87 billion as of October 24, 2025. Analysts dey shout say dis na good sign for liquidity, as dem dey expect naira to stay below di N1,500 mark thanks to di sweet inflows from di key market sectors. Everybody dey chop better jollof, wey no get any koyoro.

We fit remember say back in November 2024, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) don give instruction make all banks use Bloomberg BMatch system for trading, and di system ti work since December 2024. Dis one na to make everything dey clear and transparent, and for naira to dey show itself well for di market.
