Abuja, Nigeria – How far, my people! You don hear am? Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) just drop bombshell as over 4.4 million Nigerians don pre-register online for di ongoing voter registration wey start on August 18, 2025. E be like sey dem don sharp up for this election matter!
From di latest gist wey National Commissioner, Sam Olumekun, talk for press release for Monday, as of Sunday, September 14, 2025, dem don record 4,445,505 online pre-registrations. Wahala no dey here, na good news!
Adult men and women dey show face, but no be everybody! Di figas show say 2,141,294 (48.17%) na men while 2,304,211 (51.83%) na women. No be like sey dem dey fight o, but dem ensure sey women no dey left behind. And guess wetin? Majority of dem wey register, 2,924,643 (65.79%) dey between ages of 18 and 34, meaning di youth don wake up from dem slumber! (Baba God, we dey follow you shine!)
Osun State carry di crown as di state wey lead di registration with 552,045 entries. Lagos dey hot on dia tail with 488,523, while dem no fit forget Borno wey don record 439,426 pre-registrations. Ogun say ‘no be small’ too as dem contribute 396,799. Talk about numbers, sha!
Kaduna and Kogi no lose guard with 240,357 and 218,397 respectively. Abuja, wey na di Federal Capital Territory, no carry last with 213,732 registrations. But wetin dey happen for di North-West wey Kano contribute just 113,547? Na small paddy matter! (Hope say dem no dey snooze!)
To make matter worse, some states like Bayelsa and Rivers catch dem low for di game, with 20,905 and 19,979 pre-registrations respectively. E be like say dem never catch di election fever well-well! Adamawa and Ondo dey at di bottom, with 12,474 and 10,781 entries. Enugu dey jinx with just 1,839. Chai, wetin be dis?
Despite all di palaver for di North region, dem don launch some grassroots campaigns to boost voter registration. Dem dey try carry village people along, make sure sey nobody dey miss out! Community leaders, religious leaders, and even civil society organizations don join hand together. Na wetin be di secret? Public sensitization and collaboration with local officials dey work wonders!
As of September 12, dem don come out with another update sey di total number of completed registrations dey at 509,929. Out of dis number, 229,758 na men while 280,171 na women – di ladies dey carry di day! Young people again show say dem dey ready for action, as 378,132 dey age 18 to 34, and 196,529 na students. Dis one na serious matter!
INEC don talk say di online pre-registration for FCT go close today, September 15, 2025. But no wahala, physical registration go still dey happen for two weeks at designated centers. After dat, dem go carry registration matter to di grassroots level in di 62 Wards for FCT from September 29 to October 8, 2025. E be like say dem get plans, sha!
So, keep your eyes open, my padi, because dis registration matter no be joke! Every block wey we don dey build now go prepare ground for election season wey dey come. Naija, ready or not?
