NACETEM DG tasks workers on effective communication skills to fast-track service delivery

The Director General of the National Center for Technology Management (NACETEM), Prof. Okechukwu Ukwuoma, has tasked workers with developing effective communication strategies to ensure the timely delivery of services to the public.

Ukwuoma said organizations must also have effective communication systems to generate support and enable key people in their vision and goals.

The CEO gave the advice Thursday at an ongoing three-day training on strategic communication and public speaking, held in Akure, Ondo state.

According to him, it is important for organizations to develop effective communication to ensure clarity of stated goals and to enable workers to provide effective services to meet the collective aspirations of organizations.

He argued that the communications failure was largely responsible for the low productivity.

“Public speaking in communication has played an important role in education, government, leadership and business.

“Words have the power to inform, persuade, educate and even entertain, and the spoken word can be even more powerful than the written word in the hands of the right speaker,” he said.

The head of NACETEM said the training was organized to familiarize participants about the need to be explicit in their presentations, in order to gain public support for government programs and policies.

“Whether as a small business owner, civil servant or civil servant, teacher, student or leader, strategic communication and public speaking are important,” he said.

The CEO added that strategic communication and speech training should emphasize the importance of communication in the age of digital technology.

He said the training would critically evaluate topics such as clarifying public speaking, effective communication for optimal results, strategic delivery when speaking in public, innovation and productivity management, among others.

“This training will improve the confidence of the participants, improve their investigative skills and deductive skills, as well as enhance their ability to advocate for significant causes on a personal and organizational level.”

Mr. Ekpo Nta, president of the National Commission on Salaries, Income and Salaries, recognized the fruitful partnership between the commission and NACETEM.

“We have received state-of-the-art facilities and training opportunities for our NACETEM staff,” said Nta.

He said the training was to develop the capacity of commission staff to function optimally.
