City, State/Country—Chai! E don finally happen. After months of people dey dream, sing, and even shed tear, na the grand finale of Nigerian Idol Season 10 we dey look forward to, and wetin we see? Double wahala as Mikki and Lawrence pack their load and exit the competition just like dat!
So, the real gist be say dis season don dey build since February. E start as people from all over Naija (ages 16 to 30) submit their videos like say dem dey audition for Hollywood. By May 25, dem start the live shows, and we dey watch as our top ten contestants—Mikki, Raymu, Ellacentric, Kristopher, Sally, Boss Lady, Brammy, Jkenova, Lawrence, and Purp—dance and shine on top stage.
Last Sunday, everything just burst. Na only two contestants remain—Raymu and Purp. Dem don outshine everybody. Na dem dey come waka go take crown for this matter. But before we go talk about dem, let’s gist about the heart-shattering news wey just drop. Mikki, wahala no dey finish for your side, but na dat your fans dem still dey feel the matter, as Lawrence too pick sense and follow you exit.
As e be, that last live show no be joke oh! We get emotional performances wey fit make even stone cry. Purp opened the show strong with Whitney Houston’s ‘Greatest Love of All’—gurl sabi wetin she dey do! Lawrence come give us all di feels with Bruno Mars’ ‘When I Was Your Man.’ Raymu no too wan leave crowd for ground, as him packed Usher’s ‘Burn’ go make everybody dey scream wahala. Mikki turn around come drop Josh Groban’s ‘You Raise Me Up’ like say na Olympic. But wetin happen? First drama, Lawrence catch elimination, then later, Mikki follow am. E shock everywhere!
Second segment wey follow, na serious level. Dey come pull dem perform songs wey other contestants don fall hand on. Purp take ‘Anyone’ by Demi Lovato and turn am to opa-opa. “This one na for anybody wey dey feel alone,” she yan as she sing. Raymu too follow with ‘Fallin’ by Alicia Keys, and everybody just dey respect am. Dem de give moments wey nobody fit forget!
Then, for di viewers’ choice round, crowd melt everywhere as Raymu carry ‘Lay Me Down’ by Sam Smith come deliver, and wey Somawumi give feedback say, “You shine like star!” Purp come follow with ‘Sweet Love’ by Anita Baker, no forget at all. Then, we even see Lawrence come back for one last bow with ‘Bruises’ by Lewis Capaldi, close to we emotions.
