Myanmar reports 1,639 new COVID-19 infections, 36 more deaths

Myanmar reported 1,639 new COVID-19 infections and 36 more deaths in the past 24 hours, according to a daily release from the Health and Sports Ministry on Thursday.

The total number of infections has risen to 85,205 and the death toll has increased to 1,846 on Thursday, the ministry’s release said.

A total of 64,645 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals so far.

The virus was first detected in Myanmar on March 23 and over 1.09 million samples have been tested for the disease.
