 A Karu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced a 40 year old motorcyclist Shaibu Abdullahi to 14 months imprisonment for defrauding his colleague of N56 000 The convict who resides in Mararaba Nasarawa State pleaded guilty to criminal breach of trust and cheating The Judge Ishaq Hassan gave the convict an option of N30 000 fine and warned him to desist from committing such crimes Hassan also ordered the convict to pay N56 000 as compensation to the complainant Earlier the Prosecution Counsel Olarewaju Osho told the court that the complainant Kamal Shafiu reported the matter at the Nyanya Police Station on Sept 19 He said the defendant deceived the complainant into believing that he can retrieve his Bajaj motorcycle which was seized by Abuja Joint Task Force and taken to the VIO office The police said that the defendant collected N56 000 from the complainant and absconded to an unknown place He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code NewsSourceCredit NAN

A Karu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday,  sentenced a 40-year-old motorcyclist, Shaibu Abdullahi to 14 months imprisonment for defrauding his colleague of N56,000.

Ishaq Hassan

The Judge, Ishaq Hassan, gave the convict an option of N30,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing such crimes.

Hassan also ordered the convict to pay N56,000 as compensation to the complainant.

Prosecution Counsel

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Olarewaju Osho told the court that the complainant, Kamal Shafiu reported the matter at the Nyanya Police Station on Sept. 19.
