The World Creative and Innovation Day is celebrated every April 21 yearly to raise awareness on the role of creativity and innovation in all aspects of human development.

“The importance of creativity in any human endeavour cannot be emphasised enough as it allows us to view and solve problems more openly and innovative ways.

“The COVID-19 pandemic crippled both business and human capital following restrictions to contain its widespread, while the second wave made it even more difficult for businesses to pick up.

“This gathering seeks to open our minds to the opportunities that abound in the emerging digital economy, and how we can take advantage of it to embrace creative and innovative solutions in business.

“It has, therefore, become imperative to explore more creative and enduring ways of attaining sustainable development.
“Any society that loses touch with its creative element, is an imprisoned society,” she said.

The commissioner said that the ministry has empowered 38,728 women across the state as a form of empowerment and poverty alleviation.

“In consonance with the THEMES agenda, the state government, through WAPA, has the mandate to promote and enhance the economic upliftment and protection of women through our various programmes.

“With the creation of 19 functional skill acquisition centres in five divisions in Lagos, we have trained 38, 728 women in the two years of this administration .

“The training includes short-term, long-term and mega empowerment initiatives, as we remain committed to our vision of uplifting women and alleviating poverty,” she said.

Also, Mr Dayo Israel, a Board member of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), admonished participants undergoing training at the various skill acquisition centres in the state to be focussed.
Israel at the event urged participants to infuse creativity in what they do in order to stand out.

“We have lots of people that are already putting their skills into practice in Lagos and Nigeria at large, but the only thing that will make you stand out from others is your ability to be creative.

“So, you should always aim high in everything you do in life, don’t limit yourself to what you are learning now, always evolve to bring the best out of you,” he said.
