Dr Mustapha Quadri, the Medical Director of Maternity and Child Care Hospital (MCCH), Eti-Osa, Lagos on Saturday restated the hospital’s commitment to render good healthcare services to patients.
Quadri made the assertion at a programme organised to celebrate the one year anniversary of the hospital.
According to him, the hospital is now an essential part of the community with increased patients’ patronage, leading to a drastic reduction in the rate of maternal deaths.
“Within the one year of commencement of services in this facility, new additions to the hospital.
“We now have a well equipped eye clinic, newly built consulting rooms and a private birthing suite for patients who might be in need of it.
“The new birthing suite will be for pregnant women who want all their delivery private and have access to their personal physician, while family members can also witness the delivery.
“These and many more are some of the measures we are putting in place to upscale our services and ensure quality healthcare services to our patients,” he said.
The medical director said the hospital had recorded a total of 1,800 births, including a set of triplets within the year.
He commended health personnel in the hospital for their commitment and dedication in the discharge of their duties in spite of some challenges.
“I want to use this opportunity to thank all members of staff for successful delivery of over 1,800 babies, including a set of triplets.
“The inadequate space and need for more medical equipment for enhanced productivity are some of the challenges we hope to solve as we progress,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mrs Kemi Ogunyemi, the Commissioner for the Lagos State Health Service Commission who was the special guest, commended the medical director and staff for the noticeable changes within the hospital.
“Compared to inception when patronage was low, there is a noticeable increase of patients’ turn-out as well as high staff morale.
“The hospital environment still maintained its neat and tidy appearance, I want to assure the management that newly recruited doctors will be deployed to the facility for effectiveness,” she said.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the newly built and equipped consulting rooms and private birthing suite, while the first baby delivered in the hospital was presented a gift.
