Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil – Before stepping onto the field for the second training session of the week geared up for the decisive clash against Palmeiras in the third round of the Copa do Brasil, left-back Matheus Bahia spoke in a press conference at the Porangabuçu training center.
Bahia discussed his expectations for the match against the Alviverde and pledged maximum effort in the team’s quest for advancement.
The 79 jersey characterized the upcoming match as tough but emphasized that Palmeiras will also face a formidable opponent and won’t have it easy, a fact illustrated in the first leg of their meetings.
“It’s a very difficult match against a very tough opponent, but we also proved our value. We had a game with them here where, in my opinion, we deserved even a better result, but that’s football, and we have to respect that,” Bahia assessed.
The alvinegro side’s defender remarked that the squad understands their own strengths and what they can deliver on the pitch. He also assured that the team would be spirited from the first to the last minute in pursuit of securing a spot in the next round.
“We know our capabilities and that we can strive for a good result. We believe we can advance. I can’t guarantee a spot in the next phase because football is unpredictable, and anything can happen, but I can promise we will give our all to achieve that qualification,” the left-back declared.
