On the Margins of forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FoCAC), China reaffirms Support for Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone has consistently supported China in all world forums, including the United Nations.

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone, November 30, 2021 / APO Group / –

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Professor David John Francis, met with his Chinese counterpart, His Excellency, Wang Yi, on the sidelines of the VIII Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FoCAC) in Dakar, Senegal.

In their bilateral discussion, Professor Francis highlighted the special relationship that existed between China and Sierra Leone for 50 years starting in 1971. He said that Sierra Leone has consistently supported China in all world forums, including the United Nations. Professor Francis requested China’s support for Sierra Leone’s candidacy to the United Nations Security Council in the Non-Permanent Category for 2024-2025.

He ended by presenting the infrastructure plans for the Lungi bridge that will link Freetown and Lungi and the construction of a smart city in Lungi with its counterpart for the consideration and support of China.
