“I learned a lot from the Mandela Washington Scholarship (…) I will use the knowledge, lessons learned and best practices to improve my work, develop my association, (…) inspire and empower the youth of my community and strengthen the leadership skills of the members of my association.
Kimmerling Razafindrina, Mandela Washington Fellow 2022, explained.
Each year, fellows participate in a six-week leadership program, studying business, civic engagement, or public management at American colleges or universities.
This leadership training is followed by a summit in Washington, DC, where fellows make connections with American leaders from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.
Upon returning to their home countries, fellows continue to develop their skills with the support of the US Department of State through US embassies and affiliated partners.
Fellows have access to continuing professional development opportunities, mentorship, networking and training, community service, and seed funding to support their ideas, businesses, and organizations.
For more information on the fellowship, including details on the application process and selection criteria, young leaders should visit mwfellows.info/apply.
