Depsia, who is also a special adviser to the Gombe state governor on security, said insecurity was everywhere, so citizens should help security agencies to address it.

He said: “insecurity is not beyond the reach of where we are. Therefore, it requires each and every one of us to participate in helping the security agencies.

“It can help law enforcement agencies in terms of information about who, where and what is suspected.”

On the Man O’ War’s role in combating insecurity, Depsia said they could complement the efforts of security agencies when requested.

He said that as volunteers, they must supplement the efforts of the police and other law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order in the various communities.

Depsia described volunteering as an aspect of human nature that is about community building.

“Volunteering is an aspect of human nature that has to do with selfless service to build man and build community.

“Whatever level you’re at, try to see that the community is secured and the value of the community is enhanced.”

According to him, volunteering is an office or institution with registered volunteers and adequate logistics.

“That’s what we’re trying to do in Nigeria, we haven’t gotten there, but I think over time we’ll be able to make an impact.

“But you can’t volunteer without the will. The will matters. It’s a selfless service, no one pays you to volunteer,” he said.

Earlier, the national commander urged the newly appointed state commanders and their deputies to be tolerant, carry out their duties diligently, and carry their men forward.
