Luke Littler Don Blow Evrybody Mind, Get Record 5th Win!

BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom — Luke Littler has made history by winning his fifth night in the Premier League, defeating Michael van Gerwen 6-4 on May 1, 2025. The victory not only solidifies Littler’s position atop the leaderboard but also means that he is now nine points clear of his nearest rival, Luke Humphries.

The night started off with Littler narrowly beating Stephen Bunting 6-5 in the quarter-finals before edging past Nathan Aspinall in a tense semi-final. Van Gerwen, seeking his first nightly win of the year, had also battled through to the final after defeating Gerwyn Price 6-3.

Van Gerwen took an early lead, breaking Littler to go up 3-1, but the 18-year-old star wasn’t intimidated. “Once I got over the finish line in my first game against Stephen, I was confident,” Littler told Sky Sports after the match. “I have enjoyed it right the way through, and I’ll certainly relax.”

Littler’s scoring was remarkable, averaging 102.5 in the final against Van Gerwen, who averaged 94.31. The young champion managed to finish with a 46.3% success rate on the outer ring, compared to Van Gerwen’s 50%. It was a thrilling contest that saw Littler battle back after falling behind.

In the final, after initially trailing, Littler hit a stunning 120 checkout to level the game and then took the lead 4-3 with an 81 checkout. The back and forth continued until Littler finally secured the victory by nailing double 10, sealing both the match and his place in the playoffs.

“Winning tonight, I’m very happy and very confident I’ll stay at number one,” Littler added. He now looks ahead to the next challenge, which will take place in Leeds next week.

The battle for the remaining playoff spots remains intense, with Gerwyn Price, Nathan Aspinall, and Michael van Gerwen all in contention. Price is currently in third place, followed closely by Aspinall in fifth, just three points behind.

“It’s going to be a good few weeks watching them guys fight for the top four while I’m cruising at the top,” Littler observed. With just three weeks left for players to secure their spots in the finals at the O2 Arena, the stakes are high.

As the Premier League action heads to Leeds, fans await to see if Littler can continue his winning streak. His record-breaking fifth win is a clear indication of his rising dominance in the sport.
