Lisa Millar speaks out about online abuse
Lisa Millar, presenter of ABC News Breakfast, has spoken out about the abuse she received on Twitter after wearing a patterned shirt on Monday’s show.
The personal attacks against her, which she did not repeat, were then republished on some news sites.
Millar expressed her anger and sadness at the abuse, particularly as it sends a negative message to young women considering a career in the public arena.
However, she also thanked the many people who voiced their support and encouragement.
On International Women’s Day, Millar urged people to celebrate women who have made progress in difficult circumstances and to play a part in creating a better, kinder society for all.
