Lekki Regional Road ready by June 2022, LASG assures

By Grace Alegba

The Lagos State Government has assured that the 8.75 kilometer Lekki Regional Road Project in the Eti-Osa Local Government Area will be completed on schedule by June 2022.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s special advisor for works and infrastructure, Aramide Adeyoye, gave this assurance during an inspection of the project on Thursday.

The Nigeria News Agency reports that the 8.75 kilometer road, managed by Hi-Tech Construction Company, will connect the Lekki-Epe Expressway at the junction of Victoria Garden City to the Freedom Way in Eti-Osa.

The standard three-lane dual carriageway under construction with concrete, also referred to as a rigid carriageway, will have four pedestrian bridges and a two-meter cycle path running the length of the route.

Adeyoye said the project had reached 23.56 percent completion and entered a new phase for visible surface work to be seen.

“The entrepreneur is there, he has done a lot of work behind the scenes. Lots of pilling for pedestrian bridges and a lot of sand infill dredging on the Ikota River, ”she said.

According to Adeyoye, the project is a precursor to the Fourth Continent Bridge project, construction of which will begin in the first quarter of 2022.

She said the project would further open the Lekki region to serve as an alternative route and connect several communities and industrial areas.

“With roads, bridges, you can’t lie, it’s either you do them or you don’t because these are things that people feel directly.

“And I want the citizens to believe in us; we told you we’re going to wrap up and finish with Pen Cinema Bridge, we did it.

“We told you that before this administration was over, we would actually be passing with the Fourth Continental Bridge and I just want you to believe.

“We told you that we would offer an alternative to the Lekki Epe highway and that is exactly what we are doing,” she said.

Mr. Danny Abboud, Managing Director,

Hitech Construction Company, said the company has been working 24 hours a day since arriving at the site to deliver the project on time.

Abboud said the sand was dredged directly from the Lagos lagoon to aid in the construction process.

reports that will give it access to places like VGC, Ikate Elegushi, Ikota, Chevron Drive, Ajiran, Pinnock Beach Estate, Gracefield Island and Orange Island.

The project was awarded in May 2020 but construction started in August 2020 and ended in June 2022.
