Lawyer cautions youths against social media addiction

An Ilorin-based lawyer, Mr. Ahmed Taiwo, has advised young people to focus and not spend too much time on social media.

Taiwo, who gave the advice in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency in Ilorin on Saturday, said that young people were gradually losing focus due to social media addiction.

According to him, a good number of young people spend hours on their phones doing things that add little or no value to them.

Instead of spending their time doing sensible things, they hang onto their phones and computers, make friends, and follow superstars on social media.

“Young people must learn to use their time wisely, they need to plan for their future.

“Social networks can be distracting; youth must stop addiction.

“There are many opportunities on social media, but many young people are not using it in a positive way,” he said.

The lawyer also advised young people to be disciplined and avoid things that could undermine their future.
