Lagos will continue to create room for youths devt – Sanwo-Olu

By Oluwatope Lawanson

The Lagos state government said on Tuesday it would continue to create enough space for young people to thrive in business and governance.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu made this promise during a one-day youth outreach program, titled “Youth and Moral Values in a Changing Society: Challenges and Recommendations,” hosted by the office of the wife of the governor in Agidingbi, Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu urged young people to use their time well so that it can add value to them in the future.

He said, “There is room for our young people in government, especially since our executive is a mix of young people, young at heart, women and young people.

“The government cannot employ everyone, but we will create an environment where people can become entrepreneurs and solutions to challenges.

“The government’s only duty is not just to pay wages, but to ensure that policies and programs allow the private sector to employ more people.

“We are also reviewing the courses offered at our higher education institutions to reflect current realities and future needs,” he said.

The governor therefore urged young people to take the path that would be fully beneficial to them and to embark on it.

Previously, the governor’s wife, Dr Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, urged young people to take advantage of the various opportunities offered by the state to realize their potential and promote moral values to ensure a better future.

She advised the young people to be patient, persevering, disciplined and do whatever it takes to make Nigeria great.

Dr Sanwo-Olu said the program was designed especially for young people in Lagos State to see how they could take advantage of the various opportunities available to ensure them a better today and a more rewarding future.

“I urge you to take advantage of this program to gain all the knowledge you can and see how to apply the lessons in the future.

“It’s also a great way for you to network and amplify the right connections that will benefit your aspirations and dreams,” she said.
