Lagos, June 9, 2021 (NAN) The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Lagos Chapter, on Wednesday inaugurated a newly-elected eight-man executive board to pilot its affairs in the next three years.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the new board members were sworn in by a lawyer, Mr. Olugboyega Oshikoya, at the NTA Channel 10 Office, Tejuoso, Lagos State.

At the chapter’s election held May 27, Mr. Emeka Rising had polled 95 votes to emerge the Chairman.
He defeated Moji Ayetayo who secured 31 votes.

The other executives elected are Bukky Fagbuyi (Vice-Chairman)Babajide Ogunlana (General Secretary), Olamileka Ojora-Akanbi (PRO/Director of Communication), and Emmanuel Onyika (Director of Guild Services).

The others are Shedrac Itua (Chief Whip), Julius Omijie (Treasurer), and Joan Chioma Obi (Assistant Secretary).

The inauguration on Wednesday provided an opportunity for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between AGN and AllNews Media.

It was also used to inaugurate the AGN Marketing Committee saddled with the task of getting sponsorships and promotions for its activities.

Mr Femi Branch, Vice President of South West of AGN, congratulated the new executives, describing the election as free and fair.

While applauding the AGN Electoral Committee for a job well done, Branch tasked the executive members to reunite all AGN factions in the state to take the chapter to next level.

“I congratulate the new executives for being part of history.

“You ran a good race and God blessed it with victory; now it is time to build starting from bringing members together.

“Mr Rising, I advise you to follow the step of our National President, Chief Emeka Rollars; reach out to all parties to come back. You are now father and servant to all.

“Now, you have no enemy but partners in progress; set this as your foundation and trust God. Before you know it, the building will rise faster than you can imagine,” he said.

Branch also urged those serving in different AGN committees to put in their best to move the guild to the next level.
Mr Ifeanyi Dike, Chairman, AGN Board of Trustees (BOT), advised Rising to allow each executive member to run his or her office to the best of his or her ability.

“As much as you can, avoid encroachment but assist one another to make your administration a successful one that we all will be proud of,” Dike said.

Mr Emeka Rollars, the National President of AGN, urged the executives to sustain the peace recorded at their election.
Rollars said that AGN partnership with AllNews Media was aimed at portraying a positive image of the association.
Responding, Rising promised to live up to expectations.

He said he would ‘talk less and do more.

He disclosed that the new executive board would set up a reconciliation committee to be saddled with the responsibility to search for aggrieved parties, particularly those who had stopped attending the chapter’s programs.

“My first assignment is to, through a reconciliation committee, look for those who may have been offended and decided to stay away from meetings and other activities of the guild.

“This is because I believe everyone has one contribution or another to add to the progress of the guild.
“With unity and all hands on deck, we will take the AGN, Lagos Chapter, to an enviable position,” he said.

Among members present at the event are Mr. Seyi Copperfield, Chairman AGN Electoral Committee, and Mr. Kent Sele, Chairman AGN Lagos Caretaker Committee. (NAN)
