Labour Party Candidate Resigns After Election Loss

Perception as Mole for PDP

The candidate of the Labour Party for Ovia North East Constituency, Victor Nosa Omoregie, has resigned from his party membership following his unsuccessful outing in the just concluded State House of Assembly election. In a statement to journalists on Monday, Omoregie said his resignation was the result of him being perceived by Labour Party members as a mole for the Peoples Democratic Party.

Aggrieved Despite Lack of Acceptance

Despite never feeling accepted into the party, Omoregie said he felt aggrieved to leave LP. According to him, LP officials never thought he was working in the interest of the party in the state. He explained that the leadership of LP did everything to demean him, including creating confusion over his candidature.

PDP Allegedly in Control in Edo

Omoregie stressed that the party in Edo does not represent the will of the people. He contested the election under the ticket of the Labour Party but was never genuinely accepted as he was regarded as a mole and agent working for PDP. This suggests that the PDP has an even stronger hold in the state than was previously thought.
