Mrs Mariam Garba, Permanent Secretary, Kwara Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, has tasked education managers in the country to have change of attitude for an improved educational system.
Garba told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the sideline of the 2019 Annual Readership Promotion campaign that if things were done in the right way, Nigeria’s future would change for better.
Annual Readership Promotion campaign that if things were done in the right way, Nigeria’s future would change for better.
According to her, managers of education need to have change of mindset and correct attitude to educating the populace.
”In Nigeria, we are going through half or no education at all because we are not doing things right.
”What we need is proper formal and informal education, but our children are not getting it.
”Some teachers do not go to school and those that go will either not teach at all or not teach the right thing.
”Some just sit and gossip and at the end of the day, you say the students are dull; they can’t give what they don’t have.
”So I am encouraging managers in the education sector to carry out their primary assignments diligently as they will be held accountable.
”This is because many of us have contributed in destroying these students,” Garba said.
The permanent secretary added that though education was expensive, the turnover to be gotten afterwards was enormous.
