A statement signed on Sunday in Kano by the State Information Commissioner, Mr. Muhammed Garba, said the move was aimed at strengthening the state’s free education policy.

“All officials found in MDAs with pedagogical qualifications and having more than five years to retire from service would be assigned to teach in our schools.

NCE holders under State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) are expected to remain, officers with BA Ed will be deployed to junior high or senior high schools, while those with diplomas Graduates will be sent to higher education institutions, ”the statement added.

Garba further indicated that affected workers would receive a two-week induction before their deployment to schools, complemented by additional one-week refresher training each quarter.

He said the redeployment exercise was approved by the State Executive Council, following the adoption of a report of a technical committee set up by the Office of the Secretary of the Government of the State.

“The committee found 575 officers with teaching qualifications serving in MDAs, and 3,712 others working in 44 local councils were found performing duplicate duties.

“19 of the staff involved have doctorates, 55 masters, 1,100 BA in education with 2,366 NCE holders, while another 10 had a diploma in education. “

“Zone offices and local government zones have the greatest concentration of affected officers,” according to the report. (NAA)
