KDSG sinks N387.5 m into renovation of 12 PHCs in Jema’a LG

  Renovation By Moses Kolo Kafanchan Kaduna State The Kaduna State Government has spent N387 5 million to renovate and equip 12 Primary Healthcare Centres in Jema a Local Government according to Mr Idris Nyam permanent secretary in the finance finance ministry Nyam who spoke at a Policy Town Hall meeting in Kafanchan on Thursday said that the renovations were carried out in the last three years The News Agency of Nigeria NNN reports that the meeting was organised by the Planning and Budget Commission in collaboration with the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Nyam said that a total of N1 1 billion had been sunk into executing 36 capital projects in the area adding that the projects covered the health education and water sectors He explained that part of the N387 5 went into the supply of medical equipment construction of solar powered borehole staff quarters toilets and lecture theatres In the education sector Nyam said that N613 8 million was spent on rehabilitation of 11 classrooms construction of toilets solar powered boreholes female hostels and lecture theatres According to him a total of N5 7 million went into the expansion of water supply network to feed rural areas while N102 1 million went into the construction of roads to link various settlements Also speaking Mr Stephen Joseph Permanent Secretary Ministry for Water Resources called on the people to support the current administration to do more for the people Mr Peter Averik Chairman Jema a Local Government in his remarks said that governance was about people peace and development As government officials our main duty is to serve the people in the best possible way our main concern is to improve the quality of lives he said Averik promised to lobby for more projects and urged the people to be law abiding and support government policies The Emir of Jema a Alhaji Isa Mohammed in a remark pledged his subject s support to government policies and called for more measures to protect the lives of the people A youth leader in the community Solomon Samuel called on the government to pay attention to youth empowerment programmes to make young people more productive so as to contribute to societal development Among participants at the meeting were market women youth groups people living with disabilities religious traditional and community leaders NNN MGK FDY CHOM ETS Edited by Chioma Ugboma and Ephraims Sheyin
